for Special Sessions to be held during the 2027 IEEE
International Electric Machines and Drives Conference in Milwaukee, WI from May 17 – 20, 2027.

Special Sessions Topics & Guidelines
Special Session organizers should invite experts on the targeted topic to contribute to each special session. Proposed formats will be evaluated
by the Special Session Chairs. Special sessions are intended to
complement the regular technical program by highlighting
emerging research areas and topics of growing interest within
the conference's scope.
Strongly Encouraged
- ✔ Industry-led or co-hosted lectures
- ✔ Interactive instructor-audience approaches, including hands-on
- ✔ IEMDC 2027 regionally oriented topics
- ✔ Collaborative cross-disciplinary topics or teams
- ✔ Other creative topics or formats that engage the audience
Considered Less Attractive
- ✖ Narrowly focused topics
- ✖ Theory heavy lectures
- ✖ Similar topics or teams from the immediate past IEMDC, ECCE or other major recent conferences in this area
- ✖ Solicitation of a particular product or service
Potential Topic Areas
Include but not Limited to
AI-based motor and/or drive design optimization
Digitalization tech in motors/drives (e.g. digital twin, predictive maintenance, IoT, etc)
Actuators and drives for emerging applications
Emerging topics relevant to the scope of IEMDC
